Glow naturopath and clinic owner Lisa, has always had a strong belief that we should give back what we can to those that can't speak up for themselves, often children and animals.
In her 20s she was part of the Big Brother / Big Sister program, being a "big sister" to a young girl who is now a gorgeous overseas university student whom Lisa still keeps in contact with.
Also in her 20s she was part of the Friends for Older People program and visited an elderly lady in a nursing home.
For the last 8 years she has been sponsoring a boy in Malawi, Africa through World Vision. After travelling through parts of Africa, Lisa had fond memories of the beautiful children in Malawi, which is why she chose to sponsor a child in this very poor country.
Lisa also donates money to several animal charities including the WSPA, Animals Australia and Soi Dog, volunteers for fundraising and helps with local rescue of pound dogs and cats;
Lisa is part of the Soi Dog Australia committee and helps raise funds for the Soi Dog Foundation at numerous events. Soi Dog is a shelter in Thailand which takes in street dogs and cats and provides vital veterinary care, food and shelter. They also desex animals and are also trying to stop the illegal dog meat trade from Thailand to Vietnam. Lisa sponsors one of their resident dogs called Tim Tam. Lisa visited the shelter in March 2011 and saw the brilliant work Soi Dog do. She also got to give her sponsored dog Tim Tam lots of cuddles. A documentary has been made about the amazing work this organisation does. If you are ever in Phuket, Thailand, please visit them and also consider sponsoring one of their dogs.

Last year, she adopted a rescue dog, through Victorian Dog Rescue, who take dogs from death row and place them in foster care until they can find a new home. Jack the 10 year old kelpie, dumped at a country pound for being too old, is now a wonderful part of Lisa's family, alongside her other rescue dog Kira the Border Collie and Dakota her rescued cat.
Approximately 700 dogs and cats are put down EVERY DAY in Australia. Please always consider adoption FIRST before buying from a pet store or breeder and especially NOT from anyone selling dogs from puppy farms!
