The first thing I noticed about Glow was how friendly and positive the atmosphere was.  I had been feeling tired, grumpy, heavy, sensitive and worn out for months.   I had just spent a summer feeling uncomfortable in my own skin, and came back from my holidays more exhausted than before I left.  I felt overweight, and the ability to cope with everyday tasks seemed to be lost.  I found myself getting really wound up about the small issues.  I had no confidence and was feeling pretty low.  I was thinking to myself ‘I’m only 25 – surely things should be more fun!’.

During my first appointment with Lisa, we chatted about my lifestyle and eating habits, my reactions to certain things and more importantly, why I was there.  It was the first time I didn’t feel self conscious chatting to someone about my weight!  She weighed me, and then ran a series of tests which showed every element of my body, from how many kilograms in muscle I had, to the quality and condition of those muscles.  It was very interesting seeing how my weight was distributed, and why.  The results listed how much weight I had to lose, and how much muscle I had to put on.

Being Vegetarian, Lisa put me on the Glow ‘Vegan’ Detox.  I have to admit, I was expecting to feel terrible over the first few days, but I didn’t!  I felt fantastic.  To begin with, I felt positive about taking the necessary steps to responsibly look after my health.  After only two days, I was sleeping better than I had in a long time.  My skin started to glow, the purplish tinges under my eyes started to fade, and I started to feel really happy again.  I lost the ‘bloated’ look I’d carried all summer, and felt myself starting to slim down.  What I appreciated most (and I’m sure my boyfriend did too!) was that my mood swings had settled. 

With Lisa’s help, I was able to understand the relationship between our bodies, and how we fuel them.  For the first time, I could see how what I was eating was affecting my health.  Glow provided heaps of useful information to help me during the detox, with lots of delicious recipes and tips to keep you motivated.  I though it would be really difficult to adhere to, but I felt so good that it wasn’t hard at all.  After one month, I had lost centimetres around my mid section and several kilo’s too.

I think the high point was when I ran in to one of my mum’s friends in South Yarra.  She was convinced that I had had some ‘work done’ because I looked so wonderful and happy!  All I had to do to achieve this glow was to fix up my insides – to cut out all of the bad stuff and stick to natural products.

Although I still have a way to go, at Glow I learned valuable eating habits and lessons that will stick with me for the rest of my life, and will ensure I never head down back that path again.  I feel happier, more confident and healthier than I have in years.
